CARTOON CLUB 2011 - SIGNOR ROSSI AWARD- The Jam Thief selected!
Great News: The Jam Thief was part of the 15th 'Signor Rossi' Awards organised by the Cartoon Club 2011 animation Festival in Rimini. It was in July and for a reason or other I didn't received an e-mail about that. So I was really surprised to be given the festival catalog this morning.
Thus everyone don't forget to update your CV!

Here is a vimeo link about the CGI elements within the Jam Thief. The shot and below some explanations about the particular process used in order to blend the CGI within a 2D hand drawn environment: from concept art, textures, modelling and rigging strategies and after-effect post composition...

Background Arts
Hello everybody!
We are now on the finish line and I don't think I will post another update of the animatic before the movie being finished. However I will post some bits from time to time: linetests and others.
Here is a kind of plan for the remaining weeks: I will finish my share of animation and inbetweens for the end of march and perhaps a few days in April ( 2 or 3 as a maximum). I hope all the other inbetweeners could do the same. I am doing one exception about the last scene with the siblings: this one should be completed for the end of the first week of April or midweek of the second week of April. It will be the last scene to be colored. For Alexander: I hope I will be able to send you a colored version of the last sequence before the end of this month so you could start working on the soundtrack.
Now here are some background I just completed (all the backgrounds will be finished at the end of this week). I spent a lot of evenings and weekends on those but it was worth the effort.
Cheers and carry on the good work.
Theresia

The jam thief blog's little sister
This just to say I am launching another blog to show personal work, mainly life and observational drawings. For the moment there's nothing to be seen as I will upload stuff next tuesday. However to start it you will find there a link to the last interview from the character design blog; take a look: it is so impressive I feel I will be depressed for the rest of the day next to my humble doodles.

Another updated animatic
Full of new linetests and with fine multiplane simulations (which need a little more work I agree).
note at the end the first attempt to produce the water from the watercan.
Enjoy (I hope)

Welcome!
I know; I am unforgivable to have delayed the invitations to the blog so far but I am very happy to have Lynne, Lynsey, Susan and Andrew on board. They are doing great work and I don't know how I could cope without their help.
Now some news: I will post a new animatic this wednesday and some linetests too so expect to see some new stuff soon.
See you next week with a load and a lot of work.

As promised here is the animatic updated with a lot of the bgs completed. There isn't any soundtrack as the old one didn't fit the animation timing any more.
Enjoy (I hope).

Welcome Alexander!
Hey !
We have an official sound designer on board now!
I am really impatient to hear what he will do to improve the soundtrack.
We are 8 people in the team now, without including the voice performers and there are room for more...

Welcome Elena and Andy!
Hello everybody!
We have two new members in our team: Elena has just started to inbetween a scene and Andy will give a hand with the CGI part. So many thanks to them: I hope they will enjoy the ride.
But for everybody who take a look at this blog, I really need more inbetweeners. The box with the scenes ready to be completed is nearly full. If you have to much work to give a hand before the end of this semester, it doesn't matter but could you inform me if you are interested for the next semester?
Thanks by advance!
A little message for Elena and Andy: all the team members could propose sketches for the end credits montage. It broadly explain what happens after the last scene: the Frog-gardener and Buddy work together at the garden and the Frog-gardener becomes a kind of school teacher for the young carnivorous plants. You could see samples in the first posts of this blog. So don't hesitate!
Oh and I nearly forgot: here is the link for the animatic (it isn't the more recent one but it will do for the moment).

New videos from the recording session (and some linetest too)
Behold as I finally post the promised videos (and there's more to come):
Saturday, November 14, 2009
Hello everyone!

I should post linetests (I have quite a few new now) and videos from the recording session. In fact they are waiting on my pen drive but the computers of the computers' room are so slow that I have to go to the media lab to upload video. Thus this will wait a little. Instead I post some drawings I have made during the japanese tea ceremony performed yesterday at the DCA. They had been noticed by the organiser of the event and perhaps will be published on the event website. I will keep you informed.
Don't hesitate to comment (really, don't: I begin to feel a little lonely on this blog).
See all in good shape Monday.
Cheers,
Theresia

Record Session Video
Hi!
At least I have made the transfer from my camcorder to my laptop of the video we filmed of the recording session last year. Here are some tasty bits. You could see how Dean performance inspired the animation of the frog-gardener. Incidentally you could see Michael great work on the coloring of the animation.
Enjoy (more are coming).

15 FLD paper is dead, Long life to 12 FLD paper
Hello!
This just to inform you that my box of 15 field animation paper is empty and now we will carry on with 12 fld animation paper. We had the 15 fld paper because I ticked the wrong case when I took the order on the chromacolor website (sorry, sorry). I know that Freya has suffered from that paper. Now it will be better as the 12 fld will be easier to manipulate: less stress, more speed, all to be happy.
Michael has nearly finished the ink and paint of scene 13 and will soon start scene 36. Sarah has nearly completed scene 31 (she gave me tuesday as a deadline). And Freya has just some final touches to add at scene 33 before to attack scene 28. Ashley will start the trace over of scene 37 tomorrow. It is all working well and we are in time according to the schedule (but not in advance).
So congratulations to all and keep the good work going on!
Cheers,
Theresia
